Nando's is a Portugese-style restaurant with a love of one thing - chicken. Chicken is everywhere - but not as we know it. The secret is Nando's famous sauces including the now legendary Piri Piri concoction - so well known in fact that you can now buy it in Sainsbury's. The atmosphere can be electric - especially at lunchtimes, when the wonderful mix of sofas and tables create an ambience of laid-back chic, the babble of conversation creating a wash of good vibes that seems to bring out the best in people. There are some nice twists - including free refills of drinks, all self service - and it's this crucible of formal dining and informal self service that surprisingly perhaps makes the experience work so well. Recommended.
