Coventry's newest Punjabi eating experience is contemporary with a twist, combining the feel of a lively (and relaxed) "sports" bar (the "sports" being replaced by big screen ZEE TV style Bollywood music videos) with an absolutely first class menu. Even the menu shies away from simplicity offering the choice of a grill-based menu (so-called sizzler starters that could feed an army) with more traditional Punjabi curies. Service plays the fine line between bar and restaurant with amazing grace; waiter service is on hand but it's equally appropriate to order at the bar if it takes your fancy. A fundamental part of Coventry's new bar and restaurant wonderland in Priory Place (which also includes the equally magnificent Prague and Dogma), Flamingo takes many brave choices in its fusion of bar, restaurant and cafe culture concepts - and wins out across the board. Last but not least, the vegetarian menu could just be the best in the region. Thoroughly recommended.
