A labour of love for its owner - and it shows. Baroque takes inspiration from the mix of current bar thinking and comes up with a distinct, sometimes quirky and very polished affair that brings another layer of class to an already quality town-wide bar experience. There's an air of capital city thinking on show here - large open spaces mixes with intimate hideaways that are never so hidden as to mean you will not contribute to the cafe culture, conversation-friendly atmosphere. And it's this attention to creating an environment in which the atmosphere is a more important prize than branding the latest drinks brand or deafening the hard of hearing is what makes Baroque works so well. It's a bar that refuses the concept of redneck in favour of family - and taken together with first class service, shiny happy people and great cocktails and pints, is highly recommended.
