Gorgeous old thatched pub protected by the Chef and Brewer conglomerate that's a stone's throw from the gorgeous and hidden railway walk running from the Offchurch canal across the old Leamington line to Rugby. Food is fabulous with Stilton and Mushroom toast causing a riot when first introduced, a brilliant beef and ale pie and the usual mix of fish from whitebait to traditional scampi and chips. The old oak beams everywhere make the stories of an old underground tunnel to Radford Semele's charming church seem plausible (though it would be a brave chap who sought access to the cellars) and the service from the management team cannot be beaten. A treat in the summer, the gardens give the kids more than an ample playground (long ago they used to be tennis courts) and the pictures on the walls of the village over the last 200 years or so create not a little welcome nostalgia for times gone by. Scrumptious.
